Architectural Northcote homes by Monk Mackenzie and Contexture
An affordable, urban sanctuary
“Arahia” means “to lead” and sets a benchmark for modern living in the vibrant suburb of Northcote.
Tactile enduring materials and intelligent planning come together to create flexible homes that will inspire and adapt to suit your lifestyle.
Only moments away from Auckland’s city centre, Arahia is an oasis of convenience, surrounded by beautiful parks, playgrounds, and boardwalks. Set at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac Arahia is a stones throw to the Tuff Crater Nature Reserve and boardwalk, two minutes to the Northern Motorway interchange and a short seven minute drive to the Auckland CBD in off-peak traffic. The picturesque Takapuna beach and shops are only seven minutes away and you can take a leisurely 15-minute stroll to the AUT North Shore Campus.
Designed by Monk Mackenzie, an award-winning studio of architects and designers who specialise in delivering unique architectural solutions, Arahia has been purposely limited to five homes to create a feeling of space.

The Design
Monk Mackenzie describe the design of Arahia as best in class - “They’re a level above the townhouse developments on offer in Auckland. The artisanal brick exterior gives a solidity and is crisply offset by the elegant dark bronze brise soleil providing a texture and tonality to the facade and a polished, contemporary finish. Detailed thinking has gone into the layouts to maximise both space and functionality.”
In total there are five, north facing, three-bedroom townhouses. Each has open-plan ground floor living/dining/kitchen areas and a high 2.7m stud to create a sense of space and light. The large living space opens out to a generous, private deck and courtyard garden with feature, low-maintenance landscaping. Each townhouse has an internal garage, with dedicated storage in both the garage and living areas.
All five townhouses have two upstairs bathrooms including one master bedroom ensuite.
Stylish and functional, the brick exterior is low maintenance, and all windows are double glazed.
Unlike most townhouse developments, Arahia uses concrete intertenancy walls to provide you with greater acoustic protection.
The detailed thinking behind Arahia extends to small, yet unique touches like the fresh, clean scent of our signature eucalyptus linen cupboards.
Crafted Interiors
Arahia’s clean, modern lines blend seamlessly from exterior to interior and full-height, floor-to-ceiling doors and windows create spacious, light-filled areas designed for living.
The Kitchens
Arahia’s kitchens are an integral part of its open plan living and perfectly combine form and function. Oak floors and quality Italian stone marble benchtops elevate the space, and the premium Fisher & Paykel designer appliance package includes a 4 zone induction cooktop, built in extractor fan, multi-functional wall oven, dishwasher, double fridge and insinkerator. A colour matched tiled splashback with feature lighting and full extension, soft-close melamine cupboards and drawers complete the minimalist look of these kitchens.
The Bathrooms
Modern design and clean lines flow through the interiors to all bathrooms. The calming, neutral colour palette is complimented by European designed tapware and large mirrors with feature lighting. Underfloor heating and heated towel rails create comfort and warmth, as well as style.
The Bedrooms
The high ceiling extends into the spacious bedrooms and the full-height, floor-to-ceiling windows create light-filled zones to slumber and relax. Master bedrooms feature a walk-in wardrobe, ensuite, office and a private deck with a tranquil native outlook. Cavalier Bremworth loop pile carpet with 11mm thick underlay adds a touch of comfort under bare feet.
